Khaf — Weekday Letter, Wednesday (Sitting Letter)

Attributes

The letter Khaf is practiced on Wednesday, the day of Netzach-Eternal Triumph.

Khaf is connected with the attribute of Netzach-Eternal Triumph, and with the opposite qualities of life and death. Khaf is mystically connected to the highest attribute, the Supernal Will, called Keter-Crown. This Netzach-Keter connection is found everywhere in the Torah, the Crown being the Will of God that everything turns out how He intended it, for ultimate goodness. The attribute of Netzach-Eternal Triumph shows the triumph of G-d in everything. It is pronounced either like the soft guttural sound “ch” or the hard sound K as in “covet”.

In the Sefer Yetzira Khaf is connected with the fourth day of the week, the direction “up” and the left eye in the human body. Khaf is the second generation of the Water element. Its planet is Venus.

In relation to the Ten Sefirot, Khaf corresponds to Netzach-Eternal Triumph. In the human body it corresponds to the right leg.

How to do the letter

To do the Khaf sit on the floor with your legs stretched straight in front of you and toes pointing up. Reach up with your arms extended, keeping the back as straight as possible, then gently bend forward at the hips with the arms and hands aligned, fingertips reaching for the toes. Your aim is to touch your toes. Drop your head, in line with your arms, facing your knees. Then go into the inner exercise for 3-5 breaths or more. When you have become familiar with doing the Khaf, you can include an additional mental focus on the left eye while doing the basic inner exercise.
